Product Details
Helmut Kammerer founded Hekas in 1938. Rolf Kammerer took over management in 1981 and was joined in 1998 by Uwe Kammerer, the third generation, a trained wood mechanic and toolmaker who attended the clockmaking school in Furtwangen. The company draws its wood from forests near Schonach. The movement is a one-day mechanical Regular made by the Burger company in Schonach, Germany, with two weights, a pendulum, two bellows, and a strike gong.
The clock chimes the hour on the hour (i.e., six times at six o’clock) and once on the half hour. For all its moving parts, it’s very easy to assemble and just as easy to wind: a slow pull on each chain raises the weights for another day.

Your clock comes with very good instructions, and more help is available online, so setting it up and keeping it running is straightforward. Ongoing care is simple. Wind the clock once a day, and adjust the pendulum from time to time if it runs fast or slow. It's okay if it stops and is not regularly wound. Dust it occasionally, wipe the outside with a damp cloth, and dust the inside through the back panel. Every three to five years, have the movement oiled. With that little attention, this clock will keep the woodsman and his friend at work for years to come.
